One lovely summer day last August, I found myself aimlessly walking down Champs Elysees on a hot Wednesday afternoon. I was counting my blessings for the fabulous weather and the opportunity to be in such a beautiful city for the weekend.
I strolled along popping into shops here and there, until I came upon the most romantic and elegant café my American eyes had ever seen. There in front of me were mountains of macarons of all different colors and flavors with equally tempting chocolates, pastries and cakes. Being that I have quite possible the biggest sweet tooth known to man… I immediately requested a table. I ordered chamomile tea, followed by some of the best desserts I had ever tasted!
Jealous yet? You shouldn’t be, because about a month ago this famous Parisian macaron shoppe came stateside. Les Maisons Ladurée opened its first store in the US on the Upper East Side in New York City. It is on Madison Avenue between 71st and 72nd street and is still buzzing with cult-like fans dying for a taste of this sweet treat.
